IPP Settings Help
Internet Printing Protocol
(IPP) is the industry standard network
printing protocol.
IPP - This setting allows you to enable and disable the port. The default setting is On.
Network
Path - The printer's URL.
Page
Description Language - Select the language
you want the printer to receive on the IPP port. If you select AutoSelect, the
printer automatically detects the language
of the print job and processes it accordingly.
Filtering -
This field allows
you to select whether or not the printer reacts to control characters included in files. Options are InterpreterBased or None.
In most cases, Filtering should
be set to None.
Authentication
Scheme - This field allows you to choose
which type of authentication scheme to use
when printing with IPP. These schemes are
only used if the printer has both a user
name and password entered for IPP.
- basic - This scheme requires the printer
to authenticate the person sending the print job. The printer only services
the request if the name and password provided by the user match the values
stored in the printer.
- digest - This scheme requires the printer
to authenticate the person sending the print job using a single checksum
password scheme. The printer only services the request if the name and password
provided by the user match the values stored in the printer.
Note: These options comply
with IETF standard RFC's for basic and digest
authentication, but not all IPP clients
support these authentication methods.
User Name - Enter the user name
for the printer. This field can contain a maximum of 10 characters.
Password/Verify Password - Enter
the printer password and verify. This field can contain a maximum of 10 characters.
