Communication

The Communication tab allows you to configure communication options in your print driver. Administrative privileges are required to modify the settings.

To configure communication options:

  1. From the Devices and Printers window, right-click the printer, then select Xerox Printer Properties.
  2. Select the Communication tab.
  3. To set up two-way communication between a network printer and your computer, click Bi-Directional Communication, then select an option.
    • Automatic: This option enables bi-directional communication when the printer is powered on. The Device Name or TCP/IP Address is set to the IP Address detected from the port setting of the print queue. The port setting is located in Printer properties > Ports.
    • Manual: This option allows you to enable the bi-directional communication manually. Enter the appropriate Device Name or TCP/IP Address.
    • Disabled: This option turns off communication with the printer.
  4. In the Read and Write fields, enter the SNMP community name. To view the passcode, click and hold the reveal button.
  5. To set the frequency in seconds and minutes to poll and update the status information, from the Acquire Device Status list, select a refresh rate.
  6. Click OK.
