Earth Smart

1. Click Print Settings.
2. Click the Earth Smart icon.
3. To print every job using both sides of the paper, select 2-Sided Print.

   2-Sided Print: This option prints the job on both sides of the paper to allow binding on the long edge of the paper. The following illustrations show the result for documents with portrait and landscape orientations, respectively:

   

   

4. To prevent Banner Pages from printing with every print job, select No Banner Pages.

   A banner page is a separator page that prints with a print job. A banner page includes the network user name of the job submitter and the document name. When using a banner page, the page separates each completed print job in the output bin. On some printers, the control panel setting overrides the banner page option selected in the print driver.

   Setting No Banner Pages can result in print jobs being mixed up or taken by the wrong job owners. Job owner details can be printed on the job to help with job identification. For Job Identification, select an option, then click OK.

5. To print every job with two reduced-sized pages on each side of the paper, select 2 Pages Per Sheet.

   Setting 2 Pages Per Sheet can result in single page jobs being printed on half of the sheet. Select Enable "Smart 2-Up" to prevent this issue, then click OK.

   • If Smart 2-Up is enabled, and your job is one page, one full-sized page prints. For print jobs with more than one page, Smart 2-Up prints in one of the following ways, depending on your selection.
     • If you select 1‑Sided Print for a job that is two pages or more, two reduced-size pages print on one side of the paper.
     • If you select 2‑Sided Print for a job that is two pages, a full-sized page prints on each side of one sheet of paper.
     • If you select 2‑Sided Print for a job that is three pages or more, two reduced-size pages print on each side of the paper.
   • When Smart 2-Up is disabled, the default is Pages Per Sheet (N-up). Pages Per Sheet (N-up) prints two reduced-size pages on one side of the paper.

6. To save toner or ink by producing lower-quality images, select Draft Mode.
7. To use less paper and toner or ink, select Sample Set. The device prints one copy of a multiple-copy print job before printing the remaining copies. After reviewing the sample set, you can either print the remaining copies, or delete the copies at the printer control panel.

   Selecting Sample Set as your default setting means jobs with only 1 copy will print an unnecessary sample. Select Enable "Smart Sample Set" to prevent this issue, then click OK.

   "Smart" Sample Set prints one proof copy of a job for multiple-copy print jobs only.
