Use this page to enable SNMP v3, and configure the Administrative User account name and authentication and privacy protocols and passwords. Configure Using Passwords is selected by default. Click Configure Using Keys to set up the Administrative User account using keys.

Note: You must create the Administrative User account to enable SNMP v3. To quickly create the account, enter a user name or simply use the default name admin, enter the authentication and privacy passwords, and then click the Create button.

The account passwords can be ASCII or hexadecimal characters. After the Administrative User account settings are configured, click Create to save the settings and enable SNMP v3, or click Cancel to keep the previous settings and return to the SNMP Configuration: Configure SNMP v3 page. You must create the Administrative User account before the Key User and other accounts can be created.

Administrative User Account

User Name - Enter the Administrative User account User Name in this field. The User Name can be a maximum of 31 characters. The predefined admin user name is displayed by default. User names for the Administrative User, Key User, and Any User accounts must be unique.

Authentication Protocol - Select the Authentication Protocol from the drop-down list. Possible settings include: SHA1 or MD5. The default setting is SHA1.

Authentication Password - Enter the Authentication Password in this field. The Authentication Password length is dependent upon the Authentication Protocol selected, and if hexadecimal mode is selected. If the SHA1 protocol is selected, this password must be 12 to 20 characters in length for ASCII (non-hexadecimal) passwords, or 24 to 40 characters in length for hexadecimal passwords. If the MD5 protocol is selected, this password must be 12 to 16 characters in length for ASCII passwords, or 24 to 32 characters in length for hexadecimal passwords. Authentication Password is required.

Confirm Password - Retype the Authentication Password in this field. Confirm Password must match the Authentication Password previously entered.

Privacy Protocol - Select the Privacy Protocol from the drop-down list. Possible settings include: CBC-DES or CFB-AES-128. The default setting is CFB-AES-128.

Privacy Password - Enter the Privacy Password in this field. The Privacy Password length is dependent upon if hexadecimal mode is selected. This password must be 12 to 16 characters in length for ASCII passwords, or 24 to 32 characters in length for hexadecimal passwords. Privacy Password is required.

Confirm Password - Retype the Privacy Password in this field. Confirm Password must match the Privacy Password previously entered.

Hide Typing - Select this check box to prevent passwords from displaying on screen as they are being entered. Passwords display as a row of asterisks (*) instead of actual data when Hide Typing is selected. Hide Typing is selected by default.

Use Hex for Authentication/Privacy Passwords - Select this check box to enter passwords as hexadecimal values. This check box is cleared (unchecked) by default.
