Printer Search Schedule Help
The Printer Search Schedule page contains various settings
that allow you to select how and when printer searches are performed. You can set the printer to automatically perform periodic printer searches
or to only perform printer searches when you initiate them by clicking the Update
Status button from the Status tab or the Manage tab.
Search Type
Select the type of search you want the printer to perform from the
Search Type section. Options include:
User Initiated Search
- Selecting this option disables the Scheduled
Search settings.
- Selecting this option disables the Automatic
Cache Settings section.
- This option instructs the printer to perform a printer search only when
an authorized user clicks the Update Status button on either the
Status tab or the Manage tab.
Scheduled Search
- Selecting this option disables the User Initiated Search fields.
- This option instructs the printer to perform a printer search at specific
intervals as determined in the Scheduled Search settings fields.
- The current date and time default in the Current Date and Time
field.
- Enter an integer value for Search
Frequency. This value cannot be less than 1.
- Select the interval unit for Search Frequency from the drop-down
box. Hour(s), Day(s), Week(s), or Month(s).
- Select valid values for the Start
Search Date fields from the pull-down menus. Day values can be
between 1 and 31. Month values can be between January
and December, inclusive. Select the year value from the drop-down
menu. All valid values display.
- Enter valid values for hours and minutes for Start
Search Time from the drop-down menus. Values are between 12:00
am through 11:59 pm.
- Automatic Cache Settings are enabled.
Auto Search on Reboot
Click the Auto Search on Reboot checkbox to direct the printer
to perform an automatic printer search whenever it reboots. If the
checkbox is cleared, the printer will not perform a printer search upon reboot.
This checkbox is cleared (unchecked) by default.
Automatic Cache Settings
Set Automatic Cache Settings to manage printer cache and
remove printers that no longer respond to the status or discovery query. If
you select a value greater than 0, the printer cache will be cleaned
out at those specified intervals. You cannot select a value less than 4 hours.
Select 0 to set the cache to continuously delete non-responding printers
so that they never display.
To immediately remove printers that are not responding, click the
Remove Non-Responding Printers Now button.
Note: These functions are only supported in network
printer configurations with hard drives. Access to the Preferences tab
functions are controlled by the administrator. You may require a user name and
password to access these functions. See the Administrator
Security Settings Help in CentreWare IS.
