Printer Search Status Help
The first time you click the
Printer Neighborhood button in CentreWare IS to access Printer
Neighborhood, the printer launches the first
printer search process to locate all of the printers on the network. The Printer
Search Status page displays showing the Current Date and Time
and No previous search was performed for when the Last Search was completed. This page updates every 60 seconds until the search completes or you until you click Stop Printer List Update.
By default, the Search Scope is set to perform a Quick Phaser Search.
You can modify the search parameters by editing these fields on the Printer
Search Scope page accessed from the Preferences tab. For more information
about printer search settings, see the Printer
Search Scope Help.
Once the printer search completes, the Printer Neighborhood
Status page displays.
Notes:
- This page only displays the first time you enter
Printer Neighborhood or when the printer cache is empty.
- When Quick Phaser Search is selected as the Search Type Setting on the Printer Search Scope page, the printer
broadcasts a message to the network requesting other printers to respond and identify themselves. Information messages can be exchanged multiple times for each printer, causing greater network traffic. Due
to the limitations of the network broadcast process, the printer search can reliably locate a maximum of 70 printers before the search may become unreliable.
