The About Printer page shows information about your Xerox printer:

Version Information

Printer Model - The printer model configuration displays in this field. The Phaser 5500 printer supports the following five configurations:

  • Phaser 5500B - The 5500B base configuration contains 128 MB memory standard. The duplex unit, which provides 2-sided printing, 1000 and 2000-sheet feeders, the stacker or finisher, and the hard drive are optional on the 5500B configuration. The 5500B configuration does not support networking.
  • Phaser 5500N - The 5500N network configuration contains 128 MB memory standard, and supports networking. 1000 and 2000-sheet feeders, the stacker or finisher, and the hard drive are optional on the 5500N configuration.
  • Phaser 5500DN - The 5500DN network-duplex configuration contains 128 MB memory, supports 2-sided printing with the duplex unit standard, and supports networking. The hard drive is optional on the 5500DN configuration.
  • Phaser 5500DT - The 5500DT plus configuration contains 128 MB memory, the 1000-sheet feeder, supports 2-sided printing with the duplex unit standard, and supports networking. The stacker or finisher, the 2000-sheet feeder, and the hard drive are optional on the 5500DT configuration.
  • Phaser 5500DX - The 5500DX extended configuration contains 256 MB memory, the duplex unit, which provides 2-sided printing, 1000 and 2000-sheet feeders, the hard drive, and the finisher with punch and stapler options standard. The 5500DX configuration supports networking.

Note: Each printer configuration contains a replaceable Configuration Card that holds configuration information and enables or disables certain built-in printer features, such as networking.

Printer Serial Number - The Printer Serial Number is a unique number that can be found on the Configuration Page.

Machine Address - The printer's factory-assigned hardware Ethernet (MAC) address.

Operating System - Version information for the software installed on your printer.

PDL - Version information for the Page Description Language (PDL) software installed on your printer.

Networking - Version information for the networking software installed on your printer.

Engine - Version information for the engine software installed on your printer.

Memory

RAM Size - The base configuration of the controller contains SDRAM memory. SDRAM varies from 128 MB to a maximum of 512 MB for any of the printer configurations. SDRAM memory added beyond this limit will be ignored.

16 MB flash memory is optional on all Phaser 5500 printer configurations. Flash memory provides an option for storing downloaded fonts and macros.

Slot 1, Slot 2 - There are 2 option slots each supporting 128 to 256 MB of SDRAM DIMMs. Any slot may be used for SDRAM. These DIMMs must comply with the 64-bit unbuffered PC-100 standard. The maximum SDRAM memory is 512 MB for any of the printer configurations. SDRAM memory added beyond this limit will be ignored.

Page Description Languages

Status and version of the installed PDL software.

Options Installed

  • Hard Drive Installed - If the printer has a hard drive installed, this value displays Yes. The hard drive is optional on the Phaser 5500B, 5500N, 5500DN, and 5500DT, and is standard on the Phaser 5500DX configuration.
  • Hard Drive Size - If installed, the size of the hard drive displays in this field.
  • Tray 4 - If the 1000-sheet feeder is installed, this field displays Yes.
  • Tray 5 - If the 1000-sheet feeder is installed, this field displays Yes.
  • Tray 6 - If the 2000-sheet feeder is installed, this field displays Yes.
  • Fonts Installed - This field displays the total number of PostScript fonts installed in the printer. You can delete fonts by clicking the Properties tab > Web Server > Font Files from the navigation tree in CentreWare IS, and selecting the Delete Fonts... button on the Font Files page to choose the fonts you want to delete.
  • Duplex Unit - If 2-sided printing is enabled, this field displays Yes. 2-sided printing is optional on the Phaser 5500B, and is standard on the Phaser 5500DN, 5500DT, and 5500DX configurations.
  • Finisher - If the finisher is installed, these fields display Yes, and indicate installed finisher options. The finisher provides jogging, stapling, 3 or 2/4-hole punching, and two output trays. If the stapler and hole punch options are not installed in the finisher, it functions as a stacker providing jogging and two output trays. The finisher is optional on the Phaser 5500B, 5500N, and 5500DT configurations, and is standard on the 5500DX configuration. The finisher can only be added to a Phaser 5500 which also has a duplex unit and a 1000-sheet feeder installed.
