TCP/IP Help
This page enables you to configure the printer's host name, IP mode, IP address, gateway address, DNS Server Address, and WINS Server address.
Note: Changing settings here overwrites existing IP settings stored in the printer. Contact your network administrator before changing TCP/IP settings.
IP Mode - Select IPv4, IPv6, or Dual Stack as the IP Mode setting. The IP Mode selected determines the available settings on the TCP/IP page.
Host Name - Enter the Host Name. The Host Name can be up to 47 alphanumeric characters in length, and can include hyphens (-). This setting is available for all IP modes.
IPv4
These settings are available for IPv4 or Dual Stack modes:
Get IP Address - Select the method of obtaining the IPv4 address, network mask, and gateway address by selecting one of the following options:
- Manual - The addresses specified on the TCP/IP page are used. The IPv4 address, network mask, and gateway address entered on this page must be valid.
- DHCP - The addresses are automatically set via DHCP. When this option is selected, addresses entered on the TCP/IP page are ignored.
- BOOTP - The addresses are automatically set via BOOTP. When this option is selected, addresses entered on the TCP/IP page are ignored.
- RARP - The addresses are automatically set via RARP. When this option is selected, addresses entered on the TCP/IP page are ignored.
- DHCP/AutoIP - The addresses are automatically set via DHCP/AutoIP. When this option is selected, addresses entered on the TCP/IP page are ignored.
IP Address - Enter the printer's IPv4 address. The format is x.x.x.x, where x represents a decimal number from 0 - 255. The value entered must be a valid IP address and not 0.0.0.0, 255.255.255.255,
or any address starting with 127 or 224-254.
Network Mask - Enter the network mask. The format is x.x.x.x, where x represents a decimal number from 0 - 255.
Router / Gateway Address - Gateway addresses are used to communicate with devices not on the same network segment. Enter the gateway host IP address. The gateway host address is the address of a host that is used to retransmit the packets from the current network segment to another network segment. The format is x.x.x.x, where x represents a decimal number from 0 - 255. The value entered must be a valid address and must not start with 127 or 224-254.
IPv6
These settings are available for IPv6 or Dual Stack modes:
Enable Manual Address - Select the Enabled checkbox to enter the IPv6 address manually.
IP Address - Enter the IPv6 address and prefix length in these fields. In the first field, the IPv6 address should be hexadecimal digits delimited by the : character, and can be up to 39 characters in length. In the second field, prefix length can be a number from 0-128.
Automatically Configured Address 1-3 - If they exist, automatically configured IPv6 addresses display in these fields. Addresses can be assigned automatically when a router is found and it offers one or more prefixes. Automatically assigned addresses are routable.
Link-Local Address - The Link-Local Address that the printer has assigned to itself displays in this field. A Link-Local address is not routable.
Gateway Address - Enter the Gateway Address in this field. This address should be hexadecimal digits delimited by the : character, and can be up to 39 characters in length.
Automatically Configured Gateway Address - If it exists, an automatically configured Gateway Address displays in this field.
DNS
Use these settings to reference servers, such as email servers, by name.
DNS Domain Name - Enter the DNS domain name. DNS domain name can be up to 255 alphanumeric characters in length, and can include periods (.) and hyphens (-). This setting is available for all IP modes.
IPv4
These settings are available for IPv4 or Dual Stack modes:
Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically - Select the Enabled checkbox to automatically set the DNS server address using DHCP. When this checkbox is selected, DNS information entered in the following field is ignored.
DNS Server Address - Enter the DNS Server Address. The format is x.x.x.x, where x represents a decimal number from 0 - 255. The value entered must be a valid address and must not start with 127 or 224-254.
Dynamic DNS Registration (IPv4) - Select this checkbox to enable DDNS.
IPv6
These settings are available for IPv6 and Dual Stack modes:
Obtain IPv6 DNS Server Address Automatically - Select the Enabled checkbox to automatically set the DNS server address using DHCPv6. When this checkbox is selected, DNS information entered in the following field is ignored.
DNS Server Address - Enter the DNS Server Address. This address should be hexadecimal digits delimited by the : character, and can be up to 39 characters in length.
