Advanced Paper Selection

Advanced Paper Selection allows you to select various paper attributes from a single window. The Paper summary displays a summary of the selections.

To select paper attributes using Advanced Paper Selection:

1. On the Printing Options tab, from the Paper list, select Advanced Paper Selection.
2. For Paper Name, enter a name.
3. To enable the attributes, clear Use Name Only (Expert).
4. Select the desired paper attributes and options.
   • Paper Attributes

     To use only the paper name, select Use Name Only (Expert) and then enter the name or select it from the list.

   • Paper Size

     Select paper size, page scaling, and page orientation options. Click "…" to open the Paper Size window.

   • Paper Color
     • Click the arrow to the right of the Paper summary, select Other Color, then select from paper colors that your printer supports.
     • Select an option:

     • Printer Default: Prints using the default set by the system administrator at the printer control panel.
     • Custom allows you to specify a custom paper color for your print job.
   • Paper Type
     • From the list, select a paper type.
     • To use the default paper for the printer, select Printer Default.
     • If using pre-cut tabs, select Pre-Cut Tab.
       1. In Number in Sequence, type the number of tabs. Number in Sequence defines the number of unique sheets within an ordered set before the set repeats.
       2. In Select a Tab Margin, select an option. If you select Custom, enter the amount of the Tab Margin Shift, then select an option for Units.
       3. Click OK.
   • Hole Punched Paper
     • Printer Default: Uses the default printer settings.
     • Yes uses hole punched paper for the entire print job.
     • No turns off the feature.
   • Paper Weight

     Select the weight of the paper to use for the print job or for specific pages in your print job such as covers or inserts.

     Do one of the following:

     • From the list, select a weight for the paper.
     • To use the default weight for the printer, select Printer Default.
     • To use a weight not shown in the list, select Other Weight, then Custom.
       1. To set a custom weight, in the Custom Weight window, click the Up and Down arrows.
       2. Click OK.
   • Sides Coated

     Paper coating affects the appearance of the printed job. Use Sides Coated to coat the printed job. You can also specify to coat one or both sides of the paper.

     To use the default value that an administrator sets at the printer control panel, select Printer Default.

   • Coating Type

     Specify the type of coating used on coated paper. The type of coating can affect the appearance of the printed document.

   • Uncoated Finish

     Specify the finish on any uncoated papers used for printing. Specifying the finish helps to ensure better image quality. To use the default value set by the administrator at the printer control panel, select Printer Default.

   • Grain

     Grain specifies the paper grain for the print job. In some cases, grain can affect the appearance of the printed document.

   • Description (Expert)

     Use Description to add any additional paper characteristics not included in another column or field.

     To use the default value that an administrator sets at the printer control panel, select Printer Default.

5. Click OK.
