Improving print speed


Note: There are different ways to improve print speed, such as by printing over Ethernet. For more information, visit the Tektronix web site. Refer to
On-line support.
To speed the printing of a document with scanned images, here are some suggestions:

All users

Macintosh and Windows users

Windows 3.1 users


Note: Use the following procedure only if your computer is connected to the printer through the parallel port. Do not do this procedure if the printer is connected over a network port.
  1. From the Control Panel, double-click Printers.

  2. In the Printers dialog box, select the Tektronix Phaser 360 printer, then click Setup. A dialog box appears with the printer's name across the top.

  3. Click the PostScript tab.

  4. In the Performance Options field, select the Use PostScript Level 2 Features option.

  5. Click the Job Control tab.

  6. For better performance, select the Binary Mode option.

  7. From your application, choose the Tektronix Phaser 360 as your printer.

  8. Try printing the document again.

Windows 95 users

  1. In the task bar on your screen, click the Start icon; a menu appears.

  2. Move the cursor over Settings; another menu appears.

  3. In the menu, click Printers; the Printers window appears.

  4. In the Printers window, select the Phaser 360 printer icon. From the File menu, select Properties.

  5. Click the PostScript tab, then click the Advanced button.

  6. Select Use PostScript Level 2 features.

  7. Under Data format, select Binary communications protocol. Do not make this selection if the printer is connected over a network port.

  8. Click Apply and then OK when finished.

  9. Try printing the document again.

UNIX workstation users

Workstation users can use the PhaserPrint for UNIX software to significantly increase printer performance when printing bitmapped images; refer to UNIX workstation software for details.
