Printing font samplers
You can print a sample of the printer's resident fonts by downloading a utility file to the printer. Click on the following topics for instructions:

Printing a font sampler from a Macintosh

You can print a sample of the printer's resident fonts by downloading the Fonts Sampler utility file to the printer.

  1. Insert either the printer's CD-ROM or the Phaser 360 Color Printer Installer for Mac® OS Disk 1 into the appropriate drive on your computer.

  2. Double-click the Phaser 360 Installer icon. Click Continue until the Easy Install window appears.

  3. Either click Install in the Easy Install window, or select Custom Install from the pull-down menu, then select the Samplers item, and click Install.

  4. Locate the Apple Printer Utility in the PhaserTools folder on your hard disk, and double-click its icon to start the application.

  5. In the Printer Selector dialog box, make the following selections:

    1. Under AppleTalk Zones, select your printer's zone location.

    2. Under Printers, select your Phaser 360 printer.

    3. Click Open Printer.

      A dialog box appears with the selected zone and printer name at the top.

  6. From the File menu, select Send PostScript File. The Select the PostScript files to download dialog box appears.

  7. Select the PhaserTools folder.

  8. Select the Samplers folder.

  9. Select the Fonts Sampler file and click Add.

  10. Click Send to download the file to the printer.

  11. At the prompt Save PostScript output as you are asked for a file name for saving printer output. Use the default name given in the edit box or type in a new name. (Printer output includes status messages generated by the printer reporting such conditions as out of paper.)

  12. Click Save.

  13. If no output is returned by the printer, the Apple Printer Utility displays a dialog box; click Continue.

    If output is returned by the printer, you won't see this dialog box; check your hard disk for the file created by the utility for the printer's output.

Printing a font sampler from a PC

You can print a sample of the printer's resident fonts by downloading the FONTS.PS utility file to the printer.

  1. Refer to Installing the PC utility files to install the SAMPLERS.

  2. Locate the FONTS.PS file in the SAMPLERS subdirectory in the PHSRTOOL directory created on your hard disk by the installer application.

  3. Use one of the following methods to send the FONTS.PS file to the printer:
