If the log file is stored in the printer's memory, it is lost when the printer is reset; therefore, it is recommended that a hard disk be used with this job accounting feature.
The following table lists the number of records that the printer can store in several configurations.
Note: It is best to access job accounting information only when the printer is idle. For all fields in the job accounting log, the actual values reported vary depending on the protocol and print command used when each job was printed. For example, using NPRINT over NetWare provides the printer with the most information about the job being printed. When using Windows and NetWare, the job name is often LST: or LST:BANNER. Other jobs from other ports may provide even less information about the job.
Note: It is best to access job accounting information only when the printer is idle.
To perform job accounting functions
On the Job Accounting page, enter the proper password and click the Do/Apply button to access the Job Accounting Links page. See "Set Administrator Password," on page 12-28 in the manual for more information about PhaserLink software passwords.
Note: PhaserLink passwords are not encrypted.
The Job Accounting Links page has links to the following pages, which you can use to work with job accounting records. For a detailed description of the printer's job accounting records, see Job accounting records.
Download All Job Accounting Records. Downloads the job accounting log file from the printer to your host computer, but preserves the job summary list stored by the printer. This page displays job accounting records in plain text format. Since this data is accessed through a HyperText link and not through an HTML form, it can be saved directly to disk without interference from the browser.
Clear All Job Accounting Records. Clicking on this link clears the job summary list stored by the printer, clears all job accounting records in the printer, and displays a page that confirms the operation or reports an error if the operation could not be performed.
