Note: EtherTalk, LocalTalk, and TokenTalk protocols require you to attach the network cable to the printer with the printer powered off. After connection, turn on the printer. During the printer's boot-up process, the printer's network node address is resolved with the network.
Remove the network card cover plate from the rear panel of the printer.
Slide the network card into the card slot and firmly push it into place. Secure the card in place with its thumbscrews.
Connect the appropriate network interface cable to one of the network card's connectors.
On the LocalTalk/Serial card, the serial port uses a serial null modem cable such as a Tektronix 9-pin to 9-pin cable, part number 012-1379-00 or the 9-pin to 25-pin cable, part number 012-1380-00.
Turn on the printer and print the Configuration Page; it lists information regarding the network interface. For information on printing the Configuration Page, see The printer's Configuration Page.
