Installation System requirements A Tektronix color printer equipped with an Ethernet card or a Token Ring card. Microsoft Windows 3.1, 3.11 (or later), Windows for Workgroups 3.11, Windows NT, or Windows 95 installed on workstations with standard memory. The workstation must be at least an 80286 PC. Novell NetWare 2.x, 3.x, and 4.x networks with shells 3.26 or above and IPX version 3.10 or above. Note: To determine your IPX version, use the NetWare NVER command. The IPX version is not shown when using the IPXODI ? command. PhaserShare Administrator only: Supervisor or equivalent permission on all NetWare 3.x file servers to be configured and/or Administrator or equivalent permission on all NetWare 4.x networks to be configured Installation methods The installer supports the following installation methods: Standard install. This is the recommended installation method; it copies the necessary files to your workstation's hard disk. All program features are installed automatically using standard settings. There is nothing special you need do for a standard install; simply follow the on-screen instructions. Custom install. This method allows you to set preferences and assumes fewer defaults than the standard install. Network install. This method allows you to specify a drive and directory on a NetWare file server in which to place the files needed for the installation. You can then install the software from that directory to designated workstations using the standard install. The drive you specify should be a NetWare shared drive. You must have write access to the directory you specify. Installation procedure (Phaser 360 printers) Your printer's software CD-ROM and diskettes contain the files necessary for installing both the PhaserShare Administrator and the PhaserShare Status Monitor. A single integrated installer is used to install printer drivers, both applications, and other software. Locate and run the file SETUP.EXE on the printer's CD-ROM or on printer software diskette 1. When you are prompted to select Easy Install or Custom Install, select Custom Install. During the custom installation, a dialog box is displayed enabling you to install the PhaserShare Administrator, the PhaserShare Status Monitor, or both. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation. During the installation procedure, you are prompted to select an installation method: Standard, Custom, or Network; for information about these methods, see Installation methods. Installation procedure (Phaser 380, 350, 340, 560, 550, 540, 600 printers) Insert PhaserShare diskette 1 or the printer's CD-ROM into your computer's disk drive or CD-ROM drive. Open File Manager (Windows 3.1) or Windows Explorer (Windows 95) and display the contents of the diskette or CD-ROM. Run SETUP.EXE: On the PhaserShare diskette: Double-click the file SETUP.EXE (Windows 3.1) or on the Setup icon (Windows 95). On the CD-ROM: Find the file SETUP.EXE in the PHSRSHR directory. Double-click the file SETUP.EXE. (Windows 3.1) or on the Setup icon (Windows 95). Follow the instructions displayed on the screen. During the installation procedure, you are prompted to select an installation method: Standard, Custom, or Network; for information about these methods, see Installation methods. When the install program has finished copying files and setting up the software, a dialog box appears, asking you if you want to view the Readme file. To read the file, check the box and click the Finish button. To skip reading the file, click the Finish button. This completes the installation.
