Solution: Run the automatic printhead-cleaning sequence from the printer's front panel.
Clean:Light Stripes
<---- Clean Test
Press the Clean button again.
A series of front panel messages indicate the condition of the printer as it progresses through a sequence of automatic cleaning routines. The printer outputs a Cleaning Page (see The Cleaning Page) at the end of the cleaning sequence that you may discard as normal office waste.
When the cleaning sequence is completed, the printer displays the following message:
To confirm that the problem has been corrected, press the Test button to print a Test Page. Check for any missing color bars on the Test Page. The following illustration shows a correct Test Page and an example of a Test Page with a missing color bar.
If your Test Page looks like the second example with a missing color bar, go to Step 6 to perform the cleaning procedure again. 1 Black 2 Cyan 3 Magenta 4 Yellow
If the second cleaning sequence does not cure the light stripes or missing colors problem, press the Clean button to repeat the cleaning sequence.
Note: The third cleaning sequence implements a more extensive cleaning of the printer, which may take longer for the printer to execute than the previous two cleanings. If your prints still have color stripe problems after the third cleaning sequence, turn the printer off for at least 8 hours to allow the ink to solidify. When the printer is turned back on, it will perform a self-cleaning routine that should resolve the problem.
Note: The third cleaning sequence implements a more extensive cleaning of the printer, which may take longer for the printer to execute than the previous two cleanings.
If your prints still have color stripe problems, service may be required.
Return the printer to normal operation by pressing the Exit button until the Ready message appears.
