Loading the media trays
Your printer is shipped with a single media tray (letter- or A4-size) that accepts common office paper and letterhead, transparencies, and labels. If you frequently print on different types of media, you may want to obtain a tray for each type of media you use. For transparency printing, the optional transparency tray is recommended.

Loading paper and transparency trays

  1. Remove the paper tray from the printer. Take out the shipping insert.

  2. To load paper:

    1. First fan the paper to release sheets that are stuck together.

    2. Load up to 200 sheets of common office paper (slightly less than one-half ream). A label on the inside of the paper tray indicates the tray's maximum capacity.

  3. To load transparencies:

    1. Handle transparencies by the edges and with both hands to avoid fingerprints and creases, which can result in poor print quality.

    2. Load up to 50 transparencies in the standard paper tray (the bottom line on the fill label) and 175 sheets (about three boxes) in the transparency tray (the fill line indicates the maximum capacity).

    3. Load Tektronix premium transparencies with the notch in the back, right corner of the tray. Load standard Tektronix transparencies in any orientation.

  4. Make sure that the media fits snugly against the inside front wall of the tray.

  5. Insert the loaded media tray into the printer.

Loading the optional Lower Paper Tray Assembly

The Lower Paper Tray Assembly holds up to 625 sheets (approximately one and one-quarter ream) of 90 g/m2 (24 lb.) paper. A label on the inside of the tray provides a fill line to indicate the tray's maximum paper capacity.

  1. Remove the paper tray from the Lower Paper Tray Assembly.

  2. Select one-half of a ream (250 sheets or less) of paper at a time.

  3. Prior to loading paper in the Lower Paper Tray Assembly, fan the paper stack to release sheets that are stuck together.

  4. Load the first stack of paper in the tray. Make sure that the paper fits snugly against the slanted back wall of the tray.

  5. Load the second stack of paper. Make sure that the paper fits flat in the tray. Load the final stack (one-quarter ream) and make sure that the paper is still flat in the tray.

  6. Insert the paper tray into the Lower Paper Tray Assembly.
