Printing the PANTONE Color chart
Use the PANTONE Color sampler chart for your printer to select colors within an application that allows you to specify PANTONE Colors.

There are two ways to print the PANTONE Color sampler chart for your
Phaser 300X printer:

Printing individual pages from Acrobat

Macintosh

You can open the PANTONE® Phaser 300X.pdf file in Adobe's Acrobat Reader application, and print just the pages you want. Make sure you print on paper for best results.

  1. When you install the Pantone Files from the printer's CD-ROM, also install the Acrobat Reader Alias and the Printer Utilities option from the Custom Install window; see "Installing the printer's software" for instructions.
  2. Locate the Acrobat Reader Alias in the PhaserTools folder on your hard disk, and double-click the alias; the original source on the printer's CD-ROM opens.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Acrobat Reader onto your hard disk.
  4. Once Acrobat Reader is installed, locate the PANTONE® Phaser 300X.pdf file in the Pantone Files folder inside the PhaserTools folder on your hard disk. Double-click the file to launch Acrobat Reader and open the file.
  5. Select the appropriate printer in the Chooser.
  6. View and print pages from the color sampler chart file as desired.

    If you are printing from a supported driver (such as Adobe PSPrinter or Phaser 300X GX):

    Print your document with the following selections. Any other selections in the driver will cause the PANTONE Colors to print differently.

    If you are not using a supported driver:

    Print your document with the following downloadable utility files. Any other selections will cause the PANTONE Colors to print differently.

If you are printing from a supported driver (such as Adobe PSPrinter or Phaser 300X GX):
Print your document with the following selections. Any other selections in the driver will cause the PANTONE Colors to print differently.
If you are not using a supported driver:
Print your document with the following downloadable utility files. Any other selections will cause the PANTONE Colors to print differently.

PC

You can open the PANT300X.PDF file in Adobe's Acrobat Reader application, and print just the pages you want.

  1. Copy the PANT300X.PDF from the PANTONE directory on the printer's CD-ROM or Printer Software for Windows diskette. Or, use the file directly from the CD-ROM or diskette.
  2. Make sure you installed the Adobe's Acrobat Reader from the printer's CD-ROM.
  3. Once Acrobat Reader is installed, locate the PANT300X.PDF file, and double-click the file to launch Acrobat Reader and open the file.
  4. View and print pages from the color sampler chart file as desired.

    If you are printing from a supported driver (such as Adobe PS3 for Windows 3.1 or the Windows 95 PostScript driver):

    Print your document with the following selections. Any other selections in the driver will cause the PANTONE Colors to print differently.

    If you are not using a supported driver:

    Print your document with the following downloadable utility files. Any other selections will cause the PANTONE Colors to print differently.

  5. Select PANTONE Colors within an application using the colors on the chart.
  6. Print your document using one of the following methods:
If you are printing from a supported driver (such as Adobe PS3 for Windows 3.1 or the Windows 95 PostScript driver):
Print your document with the following selections. Any other selections in the driver will cause the PANTONE Colors to print differently.
If you are not using a supported driver:

Printing the entire chart

Macintosh

Use the LaserWriter Utility to download the PANTONE® Phaser 300X.ps file to the printer. This is a PostScript file that contains the necessary color correction and print quality information. Make sure you print the chart on paper for best results.

Note:If you are using QuickDraw GX, you can print the PANTONE Color sampler chart from the Tektronix Phaser 300X GX printer driver; see "Download PostScript files" for instructions.
  1. See "Installing the printer's software" to install the Pantone Files from the printer's CD-ROM. You also need to install the Printer Utilities option from the Custom Install window.
  2. Locate the files in the PhaserTools folder on your hard disk.
  3. Select the appropriate printer in the Chooser.
  4. To print the chart, do the following:
  5. Select PANTONE Colors within an application using the colors on the chart.

This is a PostScript file that contains the necessary color correction and print quality information. Make sure you print the chart on paper for best results.

  1. Copy the PANT300X.PDF from the PANTONE directory on the printer's CD-ROM or Printer Software for Windows diskette. Or, use the file directly from the CD-ROM or diskette. You may also need the utility files in the PHSR300X directory on the printer's CD-ROM.
