Download Job Accounting Log (Phaser 380, 350, 340, 560, 550, 600 printers)

Note: When Delayed Output Close is False (Off) for a protocol, job accounting is disabled for that protocol.

A printer equipped with a PhaserShare card can store information about jobs printed on the selected printer. The information is stored as a job accounting log file either in the printer's memory or on a hard disk, if one is connected to the printer. This job accounting log contains the name of the user who submitted the job, the file name of the job, and the number of pages.

If the log file is stored in the printer's memory, it is lost when the printer is reset; therefore, it is recommended that a hard disk be used with this job accounting feature.

The printer stores job accounting information for up to 5000 jobs on the hard disk if one is connected to the printer. The printer stores job accounting information for up to 500 jobs if the printer is not equipped with a hard disk.

Note: It is best to access job accounting information only when the printer is idle.

For all fields in the job accounting log, the actual values reported vary depending on the protocol and print command used when each job was printed. For example, using NPRINT over NetWare provides the printer with the most information about the job being printed. When using Windows and NetWare, the job name is often LST: or LST:BANNER. Other jobs from other ports may provide even less information about the job.

This page allows you to download the job accounting log from the printer. The menu button on the page provides three choices:

Download and Clear. Downloads the job accounting log file from the printer to your host computer and then clears the job summary list by the printer.
Clear. Clears the job summary list stored by the printer.
Download. Downloads the job accounting log file from the printer to your host computer, but preserves the job summary list stored by the printer.

Note: For Phaser 350 printers. Each time the Download and Clear or Download buttons are clicked, the printer performs the requested operation for up to 50 of the oldest records. If more records are stored, the download and clear operations must be repeated. The Clear button clears all of the records.

Note: For Phaser 550 printers and Phaser 340 printers (serial number BCxxxxxx and above). Each time the Download and Clear or Download buttons are clicked, the printer performs the requested operation for up to 25 of the oldest records on a base model printer or 100 records on a plus model. If more records are stored, the download and clear operations must be repeated. The Clear button clears all of the records.

Job accounting log file format

The job accounting records reported through the Download Job Accounting Log page contain the fields listed in the following table.

Note: Some fields do not apply to all printers.

Field	Description
Job index	Internal index number assigned by the printer.
Job ID	Job identification number assigned by the print server.
User ID	User name from the print server.
File name	Name of the print file.
Host name	Print server name.
Pages printed	Number of pages in the print job.
Start time	Internal timing value.
End time	Internal timing value.
Media type	A coded value representing the media type used for the print job:
	3 - Paper 5 - Transparency 6 - Coated Paper 7 - Card or Envelope	8 -Label 9 - Fabric Transfer 10 - Paper 2nd Side
Media size	A coded value representing the media size used for the print job:
	3 - Letter 4 - Legal 5 - C6 Envelope 6 - DL Envelope 7 - Personal Envelope 8 - 10 Envelope 9 - Executive 15 - B (Tabloid) 26 - A3 27 - A4	28 - ISO A5 29 - ISO A6 34 - ISO B4 35 - ISO B5 36 - ISO B6 101 - Tabloid Extra 102 - Oversize A 103 - Tabloid Maximum 999 - Custom
Planes printed	Number of colors printed (cyan, magenta, yellow, black).
Cyan used Magenta used Yellow used Black used	The values in these fields indicate the percentage of the entire toner cartridge for that color that was used by the job. For example, 1.00800 indicates that 1.008% of the contents of the toner cartridge was used.
