Description
|
Port Enabled
|
This field allows you to enable and disable the protocol.
|
Language
|
Select the language you want the printer to receive on the print server port. The selections are listed here (not all printers support all languages):
-
AutoSelect
-
HP-GL
-
PCL
-
PostScript
If you choose
AutoSelect, the printer automatically senses the language of the print job and processes it accordingly; this is called automatic language selection. Refer to your printer's user manual for more information about automatic language selection and which languages the printer supports.
|
Print Server Name
|
This field contains the current name for the print server. To change the name, click in the field and type a valid NetWare print server name using up to 47 uppercase characters. The new name takes effect the next time the print server or printer is reset.
|
Configuration File Server
|
Use this field to specify a file server to search for the configuration file. The maximum length for the file server name is 47 characters.
|
Login password
|
Use the field to specify a password to be used when logging in to the file server. The maximum length for the password is 47 characters.
|
Queue Scan Interval
|
Use this field to change the interval at which the printer polls for jobs. The value entered must be between 1 and 3600 seconds. The default is 15 seconds.
|
Frame Type
|
This list box allows you to choose the frame type for packet transmission:
Ethernet frame types:
-
802.3-X (Early NetWare packet type)
-
802.3-2 (IEEE packet type with MAC header followed by 802.2 LLC header)
-
802.3-SNAP (IEEE packet type with MAC header followed by 802.2 LLC header and SNAP header)
-
DIX (DEC/Intel/Xerox Specification Version 2 packet type)
-
Adaptive. If the frame type is set to
Adaptive, the printer uses the frame type of the first file server that responds to a broadcast from the printer. The printer broadcasts Ethernet packets in the following order: IEEE Ethernet 802.3, DIX Ethernet II.
Token Ring frame types:
-
802.5-2 (IEEE Token Ring 802.5)
-
802.5-2-SNAP (IEEE Token Ring 802.5-SNAP)
-
Adaptive. If the frame type is set to
Adaptive, the printer uses the frame type of the first file server that responds to a broadcast from the printer. The printer broadcasts Token Ring packets in the following order: IEEE Token Ring 802.5, IEEE Token Ring 802.5-SNAP.
The new frame type is not used until the print server or printer is reset.
|
Network*
|
This field reports the printer's network address (bindery address).
|
Physical Layer*
|
This field reports the physical layer used to transmit IPX data packets.
|
Enable Error Notification
|
This list box enables the print server's notification capabilities.
|
Configuration Timeout
|
This field contains a value in minutes that specifies the amount of time the printer searches for the configuration file server or the directory services tree. (This timeout value is valid in bindery mode or NDS mode.) If the printer does not find the configuration file server or the directory services tree within the specified time, the printer scans the network for a bindery file server with queues to service.
You may enter a value between 0 and 1999 minutes. The default value is 3 minutes. You may need to increase the value beyond the default if the network has a file server that takes a long time to start up after a power cycle. Setting the value to 0 disables the timeout; that is, the printer will continue to search for a configuration file server or directory services tree indefinitely.
|
Enable Banners
|
This list box controls banner page printing. When you choose
True, banner pages are printed with each job. When you choose
False, banner pages are not printed. In bindery mode, banners can be enabled on a per-queue basis or for all queues. In NDS mode, banners are enabled for all queues.
|
DS Enable
|
This list box enables NDS support. When you choose
True, the printer uses NDS to communicate with the file servers on the network. When NDS is disabled, the printer uses Bindery services as defined in NetWare 3.1 to communicate with file servers. When you choose false, NDS support is disabled.
If this NDS is enabled, an entry must be entered in the
DS Tree
field.
|
DS Tree
|
This field contains the NetWare Directory Services Tree that the printer looks for when connecting to file servers on the network. The DS Tree must be entered into this field if the printer is in NDS mode. The maximum length is 32 characters.
|
DS Context
|
This field contains the NetWare Directory Services Context that the printer looks into when connecting to file servers on the network. The maximum length is 32 characters.
|
Filtering
|
This field allows you to choose whether the printer filters out control characters. The choices are
InterpreterBased
or
None. In most cases, Filtering should be set to
None.
|
Delayed Output Close*
|
When you choose
On, the printer does not begin a new job on this port until the current job is completed. When you choose
Off, the printer can begin processing a new job while it is still printing a previous job. If
Delayed Output Close
is
Off, job accounting is disabled for the NetWare protocol.
