Adding a port for a new printer

Use this procedure to add a port for a printer when you have not yet installed the driver.

  1. Start the Microsoft Add Printer Wizard:
    1. From the Start menu, select Settings.
    2. From the Settings menu, select Printers.
    3. From the Printers window, select Add Printer.
  2. Use the Add Printer Wizard to install your driver; select lpt1 as the connection port.
  3. Follow the directions in the next topic, Adding a port to an existing printer.
