When to use the manual-feed slot
Use the manual-feed slot to feed single sheets for printing, especially when you want to print on heavier paper or cover stock. The manual-feed slot will accept nonglossy cover stock of 135 to 220 g/m2 (50 to 80 lb.).

  1. Through a supported printer driver, select Manual Paper or Manual Transparency from your computer. Refer to Print features quick reference: Windows 3.1, Print features quick reference: Windows 95, and Print features quick reference: Windows NT 4.0 for PC menus and Print features quick reference: Macintosh printer drivers (Phaser 360), Print features quick reference: Macintosh printer drivers (Apple LaserWriter 8), and Print features quick reference: Macintosh printer drivers (Phaser 360 GX) for Macintosh menus.

  2. In the dialog box, click the Print button.

  3. Go to the printer and open the manual-feed cover using the recessed finger tab.

  4. Set the guide on the inside of the manual-feed cover for letter- or A4-size media.

  5. When prompted by the front panel, insert one sheet of paper or transparency media until the sheet stops.

  6. After the first sheet enters the printer, wait for the front panel to prompt you before feeding the next sheet (about 5 seconds).

Note: A jam error will occur if you feed the second sheet of media into the manual-feed slot before the front panel prompts you.
