Setting up the Apple LaserWriter 8.3.4 driver
The LaserWriter 8.3.4 driver uses printer-specific PPDs (PostScript Printer Description files) to learn a printer's page sizes, printing options, and media type options. To use the LaserWriter 8.3.4 driver with a Phaser 360 printer, do the following steps. If the printer is busy, it may take some time to complete this configuration procedure; you may want to do this procedure when the printer is idle. You have to configure a printer only once.

Note: During installation, the LaserWriter 8.3.4 driver leaves other versions of the LaserWriter driver (such as 7.x and 6.x) intact, but overwrites an earlier version of the LaserWriter 8 driver, if one exists.
  1. Install the printer's software as described on Using the Mac OS installer. Select Easy Install to automatically install all of the necessary software, or select LaserWriter 8.3.4 Driver and Printer Descriptions in the Custom Install window.

  2. From the Apple menu, open the Chooser.

  3. Select the LaserWriter 8 driver icon.

  4. Click on the Zone your printer is in. See your network administrator if you have questions.

  5. Select your printer from the list, then click the Setup button. An auto-setup program searches for the printer's PostScript Printer Description file (PPD).

You may see a dialog box showing the PPD file you installed in Step 1. Click TKP360P1.PPD and click Select.

Or, if you don't see this file listed, click Other PPD. A dialog box opens showing the PPD files you have installed in the System Folder, Extensions folder, Printer Descriptions folder. Click TKP360P1.PPD and click Select.

  6. If the auto-setup finishes, a color icon appears next to the printer's name in the Chooser.

If not, click OK at the prompt. In the dialog box that appears, under Installable Options select items such as the optional Lower Paper Tray Assembly, then click OK.

  7. Click the Chooser's close box.
