Phaser 840

View and Configure General Settings (Phaser 380, 350, 340, 560, 550, 600 printers)

This page allows you to view or set general printer settings. Making these settings from this page is equivalent to making the corresponding settings from the printer's front panel, which means the settings are retained in the printer's memory and are overridden on a job-by-job basis by settings made from the printer driver. The actual settings displayed depend on the printer.

Setting

Description

Print Quality Mode

The choices in this field are different for each printer; see your printer's user documentation for details.

TekColor Correction

The choices in this field are different for each printer; see your printer's user documentation for details.

Startup Page Enabled

  • Yes : A Startup Page prints every time the printer is reset.
  • No : The Startup Page is not printed.

SCSI Start Job

  • Run: Enables automatic execution of a file named SysStart (if one is found) on a hard disk connected to the printer's SCSI port, each time the printer is turned on or reset.
  • Skip: Disables automatic execution of the SysStart file.

Status Refresh Delay*

The value in this field controls how often the information available from the Start status update link (on the Status page) is updated. The factory default is 60 seconds. You can choose from a menu of values from 1 to 600 seconds.

Check Print Enabled*

The Check Print option in the supported printer drivers causes the printer to pause after printing the first page of a multiple-page print job. This allows you to check the colors or print quality before continuing with the rest of the job. After checking, you can resume or cancel printing from the printer's front panel. Printing resumes automatically after the time period specified in the Check Print Timeout field. When Yes is selected in this list box, the printer's Check Print feature is enabled, and you can turn it on from the driver. If No is selected, Check Print is disabled, and turning it on from the driver has no effect.

Job Timeout

The value in this field determines how long the printer waits during an interrupted print job before ending the job. Enter a value in seconds. A value of 0 indicates no timeout; that is, the printer does not time out on an interrupted job. The value entered must be between 0 and 65535.

Manual Feed Timeout

The value in this field determines how long the printer waits for paper to be inserted into the manual feed slot for a manual feed print job. If paper is not inserted within the specified period of time after the job is sent to the printer, the printer attempts to pick paper from one of the paper trays. Enter a value in seconds. A value of 0 indicates no timeout; that is, the printer does not time out while waiting for paper to be inserted. The value entered must be between 0 and 65535.

Media Source*

The selection from this pull-down menu controls which source the printer takes media from:

  • Media Tray (If no Lower Tray Assembly is installed)
  • Upper Tray (If Lower Tray Assembly is installed)
  • Middle Tray (If Lower Tray Assembly is installed)
  • Lower Tray (If Lower Tray Assembly is installed)
  • Multi-Purpose Feeder
  • Paper
  • Transparency
  • AutoSelect

Multi-Purpose Feed Timeout*

The value in this field determines how long the printer waits for a user's response (pressing the Confirm button) to front panel messages associated with multi-purpose feeder printing. If there is no response within the timeout period, the job is canceled. Enter a value in seconds. A value of 0 indicates no timeout; that is, the printer does not timeout while waiting. The value entered must be from 0 to 65535 seconds.

Wait Timeout

The value in this field determines how long the printer waits for expected data during a print job. If the printer does not receive expected data within the specified period of time after the job is started, the printer cancels the job. Enter a value in seconds. A value of 0 indicates no timeout; that is, the printer does not timeout while waiting for data. The value entered must be between 0 and 65535.

Energy Star Timeout

The value in this field determines how long the printer must remain in an idle state before entering Energy Star mode. (In Energy Star mode, the printer uses much less power than it does in an idle state, but it returns to normal operation upon receiving print jobs.) Enter a value in hours:

  • For a Phaser 550 printer, the value entered must be between 0 and 90.
  • For Phaser 340 and Phaser 350 printers, the value entered must be between
    1 and 999.

Check Print Timeout*

This field contains the Check Print timeout value in minutes. This is the amount of time the printer pauses before printing the rest of the job. You may enter a value between 0 and 10080 minutes. A value of 0 causes the printer to pause indefinitely until it receives a command from the front panel. This timeout is used when the Check Print list box is set to Yes and the Check Print option has been selected in the printer driver.
