Phaser® 780: Replacing a toner cartridge

The printer displays a message when you need to install a new Toner Cartridge. The printer stops until a new cartridge is installed.

Do not shake a used toner cartridge to try to make more prints. The sensors built into the printer determine the life of a cartridge, and shaking a toner cartridge will not produce additional prints. Shaking a cartridge could result in contamination to the printer.

To replace a toner cartridge:

  1. Open the front cover.

  2. The depleted cartridge should be visible in the window. If not, push up on the blue switch and turn the carousel knob to rotate the desired cartridge into position.

  3. Turn the cartridge counter-clockwise until the dot is in the unlock position, then pull the cartridge out of the printer. Discard it as normal office waste.

  4. Unpack the new cartridge, and shake it vigorously from end to end about 7 or 8 times.

  5. Hold the cartridge with the arrow on top pointed away from you

  6. Push the cartridge into the printer with a light pressure until it stops. Turn the cartridge clockwise a quarter turn to the locked position.

  7. Close the front cover.
