Media jams can occur in these places:
The lower tray assembly (AB)
The paper feed assembly (AB)
The multi-purpose tray (AB)
The fuser assembly (CD), and
the paper exit tray (E)
To clear a jam at location A or B:
- Pull the multi-purpose tray all the way out until it stops.
- Lift the metal plate by its blue handle.
- Turn the blue knob counter-clockwise to feed the paper, then gently remove it.
- If you don¹t see paper under the metal plate, reach up under the drawer and gently pull out the jammed paper.
- When you get an AB jam, you also need to check the lower tray assembly. Open the right side door of the lower tray assembly and remove any paper there. Close the right-side door.
- Check each paper tray, and remove any paper that has been partially fed from any of the trays.
To clear a jam at location C or D:
- Pull out the fuser drawer on the left side of the printer. Be careful of hot surfaces.
- Try to remove the jammed paper by gently pulling on it.
- You may need to remove the fuser roll cartridge. Lift out the fuser roll. Lift up on the blue hook, and pull out the jammed paper.
- Reinstall the cartridge. Close the fuser drawer.
To clear a jam at location E:
- Open the door on the top left of the printer.
- Remove the jammed media, then close the door.
