Phaser® 740: Replacing a transfer kit

  1. When the printer's front panel indicates it is time to replace the Transfer Kit, open the left side door.
  2. Use the blue handles to pull out the paper feeder until it stops.
  3. Push in on the two blue tabs to unlock the paper feed cover and lift the cover until it stays open.
  4. Holding the transfer roller's two blue handles, rotate the blue handles up and lift the Transfer Kit out of the printer. Be careful not to get grease from the left end of the Transfer Kit on your hands or clothing.
  5. Place the used transfer roller on a piece of paper. Using another piece of paper, gently press down on the roller to lock it onto the waste bin and discard it.
  6. Remove the plastic covers from the new roller. Be careful not to touch this end or the black roller on the new Transfer Kit during the installation.
  7. Hold the new Transfer Kit by its blue handles and place it into the paper feeder. Rotate the handles down to seat the roller securely.
  8. Lower the paper feeder cover and push down to lock it in place. Slide the paper feeder back into the printer and close the door.
  9. After you've installed a new transfer kit, the front panel will ask you for the kit type which you can find on the box.

HINTS

  • Be careful not to get grease from the left end of the Transfer Kit on your hands or clothing.
  • Be careful not to touch the black roller on the new Transfer Kit during the installation.
  • Make sure to enter the kit type in the front panel for proper operation.
