Enabling the PostScript error handler

The error handling utility helps diagnose problems when a job doesn't print; it provides a PostScript error-handling function to help determine the cause of some PostScript printing problems. When the error handler is enabled, PostScript errors and other status information are printed. This utility is useful for debugging PostScript code.

  1. In the printer's front panel, press Menu.
  2. Press <---- or ----> until the front panel displays this message:
  3. Printer Defaults
    <---- ----> Menu
  4. Press Menu.
  5. Scroll to this message:
  6. Error Handler<---- ----> Menu
  7. Press Menu; this message appears:
  8. Error Handler: disabled *
    <---- ----> Menu

    The * indicates the current selection; disabled is the factory default.

  9. Press <---- or ----> until the front panel displays this message:
  10. Error Handler: enabled <---- ----> OK
  11. Press OK.
  12. Press until the front panel reads Ready.

After turning on the error handler, resend the print job; the printer produces an error page.

NOTE
Windows users: The Windows error handler overrides the front panel error handler. To use the front panel error handler, you must disable the Windows error handler as well as enable the front panel error handler. Go to the Windows PostScript tab and uncheck the box Print PS Error Info.
