ColorSync adjusts an image's colors on the computer. The TekColor color corrections adjust an image's colors in the printer. You should use only one method of color adjusting at a time, or you may get unexpected results. For more information on color matching options, see Correcting Printed Colors.

To use ColorSync color matching, you need to do the following:

1. See "Installing the printer's software" to install the Phaser 300X printer software. Select Easy Install to automatically install the printer's software, or install the Adobe PSPrinter driver option and the ColorSync Profiles option in the Custom Install window on the printer's CD-ROM.
2. Set up the driver:
   • Open the Chooser from the Apple menu.
   • Select the Adobe PSPrinter driver.
   • Select your printer in the list.
   • Click the Setup button.
   • If the correct PPD file is installed on your hard disk, it is automatically selected. If the PPD file is not selected automatically, the following dialog box opens showing the location of the PPD files you have installed. Select the PPD file you need:

     -Use the TKP300X1.PPD file with the standard version of
     the printer.

     -Use the TK300XP1.PPD file with the printer's extended
     features option.

     Note:If you are not sure which version of the printer you have, the printer's startup page lists this information under Extended Features: Yes/No. See "Printing a startup page" for instructions on printing a copy of the printer's startup page.

   • Click the Select button.
   • Click OK, then close the Chooser.

3. Select ColorSync System Profile in the Control Panel, and select the profile for your monitor.
4. Open an application that supports ColorSync 2.0.
5. Select Print from the File menu.
6. In the Print dialog box, click Options.
7. In the Options dialog box, make the following selections:
   • Select ColorSync Color Matching in the Print pop-up menu.
   • Select your printer in the Printer Profile pop-up menu.
   • Select None in the Color Corrections pop-up menu.
   • Click OK.
8. Click Print in the Print dialog box.
